Sean Cavanaugh

Making enterprise AI and automation understandable, and usable.

I'm a Senior Principal Technical Marketing Manager at Red Hat. I build the demos, workshops, and educational content that help engineers understand and actually adopt Ansible Automation Platform.

Before Red Hat, I worked at Cumulus Networks and Cisco, where I developed a deep understanding of network infrastructure and the challenges of managing it at scale. That experience shaped my approach: make complex technology accessible through hands-on demonstrations and clear storytelling.

I've spoken at over 50 conferences including Red Hat Summit, AnsibleFest, Cisco Live, All Things Open, and AutoCon, from Atlanta to Tokyo to Seoul. My YouTube channel has grown to over 16,000 subscribers.

When I'm not building demos or on stage, I'm exploring how AI agents can transform the way we manage infrastructure, and sharing everything I learn along the way.

Outside of Work

I'm based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where I live with my wife, our three kids, and three pets: Ghost, our border collie, and Finn and Momo, our two cats.

Outside of work, I'm usually running (I try to get out two or three times a week), planning our next family trip, taking photos or shooting video, tackling a home remodeling project, building LEGO sets, or experimenting with some new piece of technology. Japan and Iceland have been recent travel favorites, and I also enjoy video games, especially Nintendo games I can play with my kids.

Music has always been part of my life, too. I have a piano, a keyboard, and a couple of guitars, even if I don't play them as often as I'd like.

Whether I'm creating an enterprise automation demo, learning a new camera, renovating a room, or building something purely for fun, I'm happiest when I'm learning by doing.
